Concentric Slave Valve Issue
Either that or the locking tangs where damaged (tips bent outward) when disconnecting it now preventing them from engaging with the line properly to hold it in place.
It has a narrow sort of c shaped tension clip that pushes in from the side, inside the bellhousing. It does not work very well at all. In fact if you look at one you will wonder how they ever expected it to work.
I couldn't even get mine to stay in long enough to bleed it, and it was brand new. I ended up pulling the transmission again and switching out the old style connector with the 'fingers' from my old slave cylinder.
That part wasn't too bad, just tap out a roll pin and the connector comes out, has a small o-ring.
If you search the net about this you will find several people who have had the same problem with the 'new design' connector, maybe it was 'new style' they called it, not sure, but its worthless no matter what you call it.
I guess if you use all new parts it sometimes works once, but if it has been taken apart it probably won't work again.
If you have your old slave cylinder still you can look in the end of it and it will probably have the fingers, then you can look in your new one and see if it has those, or the clip from the side.
I'll see if I can hunt up a photo of the difference somewhere.
The bottom photo here shows the old finger style clip that works.
The article goes on a bit about the year differences in the line part of the assembly, but I don't think that makes any difference to the connector style. I'm not even sure there is actually a year difference, or just what he happened to have.
I could be wrong though. I have the line style shown in the upper left in the photo. Perhaps the new type of clip works with the other line type on the right, but I doubt it.
I also noticed that if you buy the whole assembly it cost $300 and has a 3 month warranty.
If you buy the individual parts its about $150 and the slave and master have lifetime warranties, the line only 3 months.
I think, after sleeping on it, I saw the black connector housing move up and down on the slave cylinder on the tubing it is connected to. I am going to try to get a tool at the back of the black housing to hold it in the extended position and try to connect again.
