Hey folks, need some pointers on changing my master and slave clutch cylinders on my '92 f250 sclb 4x4 460 w/ 3.55s I'm hoping to tackle it tomorrow should I see if I can rent a vacuum bleeder? Any suggestions would be great!
You'll want to 'bench bleed' your brake master cylinder… you'll find instructions with the new master. You'll fill the master with fluid, screw the two plastic fittings into the outlets, hook up the black rubber hoses that come in the kit, and slowly pump the pushrod until the bubbles stop coming from the reservoir.
Do it slowly or you'll have a mess… then reinstall the cover and install the master. I'd suggest you do this BEFORE you remove the old master… install the new part asap to keep fluid from leaking from the brake lines…
Pulled Master cylinder first and changed it saw that the pressure hose was ridged so I didn't pull it out. Then I crawled under my truck and changed the slave cylinder. If I was to do it again I would pull the slave cylinder first leave the line connected then pull the Master out. Then change the cylinders on the bench they have a crappy push pin in there that makes them a pita to get out and in while still in the truck. I bled the system from under the truck( Do NOT open the bleed valve way open) shop was gunna bill me 2hrs labor I did it in the driveway in 2.5 I love my 250!
