im having a little issue. ever since we got the first snow fall my truck has been shifting weird. it will rev way up and then finally shift. when I shift "manually" it works good. ive checked the fluid and that seems good, good level and wasn't burnt.
could it be a bad vacuum line? or the module? I recently replaced the transmission module and it was working after that. i am stumped at this point
Of course it could be a bad vacuum line or a module.
The line is cheap enough to replace if you even suspect it to be bad. Have you stuck your head under to see if you drove over something that pulled the line off?
modulator line was still intact, yes about 3 months ago i serviced the transmission (new modulator, filter, fluid) it worked fine until I ran into this problem. when I took the line off no fluid was in the line.
how would I adjust the band?
is there a vent hose on top of these transmissions or no? I was told that could be clogged?
hopefully this is fixable without the need for a new transmission
Band adjustment should of been done when you serviced the trans. Cause its up inside the trans and accessed from up underneath the filter.
Trans vent? I have heard there is....where it is I do not know.
Next question just how many miles are on the truck? It might be time for a rebuild, hope not.
And are you sure the weird shifting was not just not due to spinning in the snow, yea I know dumb question, but had to ask. Does it do it on snow free pavement too?
the pavement was/is bone dry. even if I were spinning wouldn't it still shift properly? and I believe it is the original transmission, so according to the dial has about 120xxx on it.
I meant to ask how the transmission module is adjusted. is it counterclockwise= earlier shift?
After a little FTE searching I found this statement "turning the screw CLOCKWISE raises the shift points." Hope this helps, sorry I do not know the answer for sure.
so if it is shifting late I would loosen the screw so it shifts earlier correct?
Well, that should make shifts earlier if it was the screw in the modulator that caused the sudden late shifting .... but those screws don't turn themselves so I'ld be wondering why the suddenly late shifting?
I'ld uncork that vacuum line, plug one end and apply vacuum on the other end to check that it isn't cracked from age .... or just replace it.

2X - I am no expert, but I do not think that the modulator is the problem. Not that it could not be part of the problem, but I do not believe it is the sole problem.
thanks guys for the help and encouragement . my thoughts have lead me to believing it is the vacuum line so I'm going to replace that considering that is the only piece in the system that is stock we'll see if that fixes it
(fingers crossed)
so I replaced the line today and while I was looking at the vacuum tree there was an open port. looked like it use to be plugged, so I put a new one on and low and be-hold my truck shifts much better. I'm definitely a happier camper now
