Hi, I will be purchasing the MBRP 4" T409 Stainless Turbo Back Exhaust.
I was looking into the different exhaust tips they offer. I do like the angled cut that is on my stock system now. What is the difference between single and dual walled? Will a 5 inch end diameter tip sound any different than say a 6 inch diameter? Does a tip change the sound or tone at all or is it just for looks? Do I even need a tip or will it look bad without one?
Thanks
Double walled tips are say a 4 inch ID, a d 5 inch OD , helps keep the outer part cooler to keep its color longer. A bigger tip, lowers the tone, and makes it a bit louder. Longer tips change the sound more than shorter.
Here's my 5 inch rolled slant cut tip. It's a single wall, with the edge rolled in.
The single wall have the rolled edge, which i never cared for. The dual wall looks alot nicer as its a slash cut tip. My turbo seems to be a little less obnoxious with the dual wall tip as well
I can definitely notice a change in tone running no tip on a 4" exhaust vs. 5" tip. My friend just put a 6" tip on his 6.0 and he said its definitely deeper
