Ok Guys Iv got problems . Started Off I had a head gasket leaking . I didn't just want to prolong the situation so I tour it down and put new head gasket on it . Once put back together We had very hard start and a knock that I didn't notice before . It ended up being push rod on opposite side , I ordered and replaced push rod and lifter and went ahead and replaced all the injector lines . We still had a problem starting and white smoke was pouring when it did start So I went ahead a bought new injectors . and glow plugs but when I check the glow plug harness im only getting around 7 v for 4 sec then the relay starts clicking , So I replaced the glow plug relay know I still only have 9 v and it still clicks and we burnt the starter up last night trying to start it so today i INSTALLED NEW STARTER .. This is the first diesel That I have worked on and I am just getting discouraged .I Think I have a timing issue but Im new to timming these things Anyone have any advice
Idk why no one is answering to very many threads anymore when I joined it seemed everyone answered... If it is a timing issue how did you pull the injection pump when you did the head work
Check the multi plug on the passenger fender well that is where the power for gp comes from. It is very notorious for burning / melting that connection. Check that for low voltage problem. If you took the timing gear cover off then you could have a timing problem. Also the ip needs to be set at least with marks on top lined up. Usually just a touch to the passenger side. Getting all the air out of these is a real PITA. White smoke usually means air intrusion.
Usually, white smoke and hard starting makes me suspect that the timing is retarded.
I think you should take a step back Sanders.
Make sure your basic settings are correct before you throw any more parts at it.
Priority #1 Verify fuel supply and take care of any leaks. Make sure it can't suck air. Make sure the lift pump is lifting or replace it with an in tank pump or in line electric.
Priority #2 Verify glow plug system. All wiring and connections and any mods/improvements. New and tested plugs and working controller.
Priority #3 Pump timing, pump and injector condition and return lines.
Priority #4 Cooling system. Get the truck running first.
These engines are pretty much set it and forget it.
I change my filters once a year and that's all.
I've changed my antifreeze once in 5 years.
My old Ford dump truck is my most reliable vehicle.

It has been pretty quiet in here lately. I assume it's because of the holidays people have stuff other than old trucks on their mind.
Me, I'm not very domesticated, I'll be here on Christmas.
Maybe I'll put a wreath on my truck.
