What can they do? Have you been damaged by them yet? Have you sustained loss yet?

The cops have better things to do than fingerprint a letter.

Remember a sucker is born every minute. Today you escaped being a sucker. The only thing it can say is our country is in deep trouble and we are the top of the world as far as income. You just made a Nigerian prince starve tonight. How well do you feel? Good luck at church tomorrow!

The Money I am Supposed to send for decal install is NOT going to a Business I googled it and its a Residential Home NOT a Business

it's a scam, don't do it.

seriously.

4 weeks later the check will bounce, and you are out
the install money. this is a very common scam, most
of them are variants on the nigerian 419 things.

I went to the website in the link above and at the top of the page was an ad for a specific hotel I use a couple of times a year in Atlanta. I don't live near Atlanta. What are the odds of that? I think that site rummaged through my cookies. I've already sent a copy of a phishing e-mail to Amazon this morning, then strolling through FTE and see where some jerk-off is trying to get in Benny's wallet. Dang, thugs everywhere. Always someone willing to take your stuff instead of earning something their self, and the interweb just makes it easier.

probably not, to be honest. the rummaging was done a while ago.

with all the news about the NSA, and the level of tracking present
in todays civilization, it always seems they are watching the other guy.

there is no other guy. there are a couple things you can load on your
computer to get a birds eye view of what is really going on, and it's
not the NSA watching everyone. it's EVERYONE watching everyone.

when i was getting my engine rebuilt, i had bulletproof diesel banner
ads following me in a trail 100' long, everywhere i went.

and a lot of the threads start right here. there is a plugin called
collusion, that shows all the cookie harvesting, and where it comes from.
it runs on the upper right hand corner of the tool bar, and it's amazing
after a few days of surfing....

the other thing you can do is load a program called little snitch,
which is a packet sniffer, and you have to give the computer
permission for connections. and a LOT of programs hit things
like google analytics for stuff that has nothing to do with anything
other than selling your info.

the third thing you can, and should do, imho, is run a VPN.
that is a virtual private network. what happens is that your IP
cannot be tracked, nor can your data be intercepted if you are
on wireless. the system makes an encrypted "pipe" between
your 'pooter, and a server on the internet. it's just an
encrypted stream of data, impossible to hack, unless you are
the NSA, of course.

but, you can connect to a secure server and enter the internet
from anywhere. i'm in southern calif, but right now if you looked
at my IP, it shows me either in dallas, or swtizerland, or any one
of a dozen places.

and when you first start using it, it sets off the tracking metrics of
people like google, and gives them fits. show up logging in from
dallas, then switzerland 10 minutes later, and google has a cow.
you get emails. and after half a dozen emails, they calm down and
leave you alone.

online privacy is now in the stream of media attention, but this has
been going on for a long time.
