Heres my issue. Has a hesitation going into drive, or reverse. When its cold and i take off slowly and let off the throttle it almost feels like its going into neutral , then drive again. Also when i shifts into od at about 48-50 mph while lightly on the throttle it hesitates, then shifts. If im on it hard, or relatively aggressive it shifts perfect into od. Now, it doesnt do all this all of the time. The only thing thats persistant is the drive and reverse hesitation, and thats not all the time either. Another thing ive got is once in a while a dead throttle pedal. Ive got 5,000 on trans oil and filter change. I go no tow-haul flashing, and no check engine light on. I disconnected the batts thinking maybe the pcm will reset and straighten itself out. Or do i have trans solenoid issues?.
Mine did this really bad. Just started randomly one day plowing last year. It would somtimes hit pretty hard on the reverse shift. I only had about 15k on my fluid and filter's. Mark K mentioned a solinoid could of been partially plugged. I changed the fluid and filters again. And within 30 miles it was totally gone. Thats been over 8 months of daily towing and usage.
If these symptoms are experienced after the batteries have been disconnected, then it is due to the transmission adaptive strategy being cleared from the computer.
This may occur when the vehicle is delivered new from the factory as well.
1. Warm the engine and transmission to operating temperature with all accessories off.
2. Idle engine for one minute with engine warm and all accessories off.
3. Idle engine for one minute with A/C on.
Then:
1) While stopped, perform three sets of gear engagements (N-R, N-D, D-R, R-D) with the brake pedal firmly depressed and waiting three seconds between each engagement.
2) While driving, perform three series of upshifts at light, medium and heavy throttle.
If it isn't a relearn issue, it could be a sticky or failing pressure control solenoid. I've also had a case with your symptoms that had a failing pump that would't hold pressure all the time. First start of the day took 5-6 seconds to engage into gear as the pump had to "prime" so to speak.
Start with the relearn procedure, then a fluid and filter change next. If that doesn't solve it, the next steps require some diagnostics.
I did the relearn and when i went from n to r there was a hesitation, when i went from n to d it hesitated, shifted, back to n for a split second, then d engaged. Upshifts are excellent, maybe once hesitated going into od, but other than that it shifts great. Still had the hesitation going into r and d.
