I ran all the tests and I'm pretty sure my distributor is messed up.
So I go to buy a new one, and the new one has a vacuum advance on it, while mine doesn't.
I still have the feedback carb and it's been workin good.
Should I just install the vacuum one and figure out where the line goes or what?
I'm not getting spark.
New ignition coil within this month, had a spare tfi so it's not that, wires and rotor are around six months old.
It's my distributor.
At the auto parts stores, my replacement has a vacuum line.
The distributor in my truck, does not.
What do I do.
Is it a major auto parts chain? If so, they have a online parts catalog if you plug in your truck. See what part number you should have, compared to what they gave you.
I plugged in your truck, a 1985 f250 4x4 with a 300 six into Autozone's site. They list 6 different distributors for your truck. 4 have vacuum connections, 2 do not.
When I need a part for any of my vehicles, I ALWAYS check online first before going to the store. I usually go to Advance Auto or Autozone, and I check both sites for prices and availability before I go. It also eliminates the out of the blue questions at the counter that you cannot answer without guessing or going back home to find out what you have.
If I am not in a hurry to get it fixed, I always check rockauto, ebay and amazon prices.
Advance had the correct one, ordered it, and it was the wrong one.
The box was right for the picture but not the item, another one should be there right about now to see if it's a good one or not.
My distributor has a sticker on it with another part number and at the end it says with mod. The other one didn't, so hopefully I can figure all this out today
