Hey all I know this isnt exactly a ford truck question but its a 5.4 dohc question. I have a 01 Navigator with the 5.4 dohc engine. Recently it started clanging in the front of the engine and has next to no power and low oil pressure. Engine was shut off imedietly. Question is this
1. I'm thinking this could be something in the cam's or chain. Am I correct I'm my thinking?
2. None of my local salvage yards have a dohc engine but plenty of sohc engines. Would this be a huge pain to convert over?
I am very mechanicly inclined so engine work is no big deal to me I'm just getting some ideas on what to look for before I tear into this thing this weekend. Thanks.
I would just pull the front cover and see if you see anything. Maybe the oil pump went and caused the tensioners to not expand. I'm not sure if those tensioners are hydrologic I'm just guessing. Maybe someone will know for sure
