Exclamation Sitting since 05!

My first real post.

So tomorrow I will "try" to start a 94 F-150. I'm pretty confident that it will start. I picked up some oil, oil additive, oil filter, fuel filter, an air filter and a new battery. I will put some fresh gas in it too. Tires still look good and they even have air in them. If all goes well you guys will be seeing my truck soon. Wish me luck.

Good luck!

Might want to spin that engine on the starter first, to prime the oil system. You might not get it to show pressure on the gauge but at least some oil can circulate.

I would be careful of the tires, Tires have a life span other than mileage and still may be in a bad shape you can not see right away.

I did that with my 93 I let it sit for eight years starting it once a month. When I did get her back on the road she ran as if new after replacing the fluids. Only main things that had to go were Tires, Battery and Brake lines, there were almost rotted out living in Winter Salt Country

Good luck and many happy miles

So everyone...It started right up! In fact, my uncle told me not to change the fluids when doing so(no sure if it was the best choice) but I just put in a fresh battery and it started In 2 cranks! High mileage too! Now i just have to get a whole bunch of paperwork done to get it back road legal. Major tune up is going to be done very soon as well. Pics coming soon.

Also, the truck was stored indoors in California so that might have helped. The tires were brand new when it went into storage but they don't quite roll smooth.

Typically 7 years is the life expectancy on tires. They dry out, Ozone attacks them, and they can begin to split and crack. Now that it's been run up to temperature and there's oil on all the moving parts, go ahead and change the fluids. Waiting for it to prime and fill the filter after sitting allows dry parts to contact each other vs just running the old oil. Oil doesnt go bad from sitting either, its all the crap from the combustion process and engine wear that contaminates it.

I have a 92 f150 and mine sat for atleast 15 years outside. When I first picked it up I had to put a new set of plugs in, then later I kept having codes and turns out the ecu was bad

So far, this thing has been running fine. No codes, and all electrics work. I even found a box of new shocks in the bed.

Well that is a good reason to get rid of it. I'm used to driving small cars so I need all of the vision I can get to handle this boat.
