Some time ago, I was looking for a landline phone that worked with a bluetooth earpiece -- made sense to me. I wanted it so that I could wander around while I was waiting for my "very important call" to be answered by "the next available operator".
There basically don't seem to be any. I found:
1. phones that will take bluetooth ( or something) from your cell-- so that you can leave your cell in a good reception spot.
2. A (discontinued ) phone that worked with bluetooth -- on incoming only!
I finally found a Motorola that has an earpiece-- but it's some other standard. It works OK, but it's big and it flops around.
Just wondering why,
hj
ps: I would just take the portable with me, except that they all have so many buttons You can't keep them in a pocket/case without switching to some mystery mode.
I'm guessing more people who've adopted all that BlueTooth technology can't fathom the idea of anyone having a land line these days. Imagine the horror: actually have to be in just one place to receive those imaginary life-altering calls that can only be handled by just one person!
Sometime in the near future I'll have to drink the Kool-Aid and get with the BlueTooth nonsense. Going to upgrade my stereo to a Kenwood model that includes BlueTooth capability and know it would be helpful answering cell calls when driving from job-to-job.
I'll NEVER give up the land line though--always have some sort of contact with the big, cruel world outside!
I don't want a land line due to the fact that it's mostly some type of telemarketing calling you. I haven't had a need for one for 6yrs now, saved a bit of $$$ too without one. We still have a line for the fax though..
As far as the bluetooth thing, I like it, wife hates it. It is the law here in IL in the car though.
There are BT/landline options out there. I have a Panasonic set(KX TG 7745)that will connect to my cel through BT to receive cel calls on the landline handsets. A BT headset can be linked to the base unit, so you can receive calls without carrying a handset on you. The BT radios are adequate and can reach further than the average 30' while keeping a stable connection. They can also be used as "cellphone routers" connecting to the cellphone and using its service to send/receive calls without any land line service at all. They also make great intercoms as any individual handset can be identified and called from another. All that for about $100. They work great.
Thanks for the thought william_etc, but I don't think that's quite it.
I don't want to hook my cel to my landline at all. I want to use an earpiece with my landline so that I can roam around while I'm waiting for customer service or whatever.
I have solved the problem, but NOT with bluetooth. Motorola makes a phone that includes a wireless earpiece, and it has far greater range than BT.
Only problem is that the earpiece is relatively large and heavy, and doesn't feel particularly secure. Oh well
