Making tools
Ok, it's a problem I have. But I have had to make several tools to solve specific problems on my 67 Mustang and now I have to do it for the 350. The outer bearing race is defying Mjolnir, my 4lb hammer. Got the other three races out with the usual fuss, but this bad boy is not budging. So tomorrow I'm going to turn down a piece of steel or aluminum depending on what scrap is around and make a driver for my press. I have two of the full set bearing/seal driver kits (SAE and Metric) and none of them will fit down the hole to reach the back of the outer. Thought I'd at least have the drums sorted this evening but alas, instead of a victory shot I'm self medicating with a low ball. The drums look great. Not even a lip so they have never been turned (74K) and the driver's brakes were seriously glazed. Guess some one got happy with the adjuster. It was dragging something fierce. Three point check says they're still round. That's something. I expect groaning and a loud 'pop' to announce submission to the 12 ton tomorrow evening.
