Just wondering if anyone knows what size of borescope will fit either the injector cup hole or the glow plug hole? Need to check out #8 cylinder to find out if I have a shot piston before pulling everything apart. Thanks!!
I just happen to have a bad glow plight on the workbench. Mic's out at .542 on the threaded section. Allowing for thread depth, it looks like a 1/2 scope would "just" fit in the glow plug hole. Can't help with injector hole.
Most of the scopes that you get at places like Harbor Freight
have too large a of a head to be or any real use. You need a 1/4"
head scope. Some of the new cheap ones has the smaller head
but you have to look.
Changed injector #8 three times and still having issues and relative compression was down 20% in that hole before it got this noisy. Still possible cam problem but starting to think piston. On cold starts it rolls heavy raw diesel and you can small it quite strongly even when it's warmed up as well as having a slight mis at idle.
