transfer case chain slap
I hear a distinct chain slap coming from my transfer case-- I have a 1999 Ford F250 Crew cab SD with a 5.4, manual transmission. Is that slap sound normal? I have only 160k on the vehicle

No - not normal. I would jack it up and check the play in the input/output shafts of the xfer case in high and low, 2 and 4WD. If you drive it long with it slapping, you may incur much higher repair costs.

had to drop the clutch out to replace pilot bearing and will likely have the t-case checked out. The sound comes in both 2wd and 4wd. Thanks for the input. I didn't think it was normal, and will get it checked
