Going to replace glow plugs . . .

2001 F-350 7.3 w/145K.
Is there a such thing as a "better" glow plug? Or should I just go with the Motorcraft?

Yeah, don't do anything BUT the Motorcraft. Bosch and the others have been known to fail horribly.

OK so I just purchased a set of Bosch glow plugs for my 2001 7.3 F250. You guys are saying that only use Motorcraft. Can someone send me the part number for the Motorcraft plugs so I can make sure I get the correct one this time. Also is changing something a novice can do or should I hire it done. The biggest thing I've done on my 7.3 is changing the water pump. I like doing thing myself so I know whats done. Any advice would be appreciated.

ZD11 is the part number. They can be had at RiffRaff or dieselorings.com for a good price.

Here is a good thread to look at. Read over it! Will give you others things to look for and check while you're under the valve covers.

Rule 1: No need for keys in the ignition.
Rule 2: You're gunna scratch the paint - unless you actively prevent it.
Rule 3: The passenger side is less fun.

I am a light-duty mechanic/technician. Until I had this truck, my tools handled small stuff - no bigger than 3/4" or 22mm. Popping the valve covers is one of the easier jobs on the truck, but it really helps to have a few additional tools in your arsenal. 10mm and 13mm deep sockets with a universal, about 18" total of socket extensions, 13mm flex-head socket [LINK], and a piece of 5/16" semi-rigid plastic fuel line.
