Thats really cool. I love this kind of auto history. Would love to find one and surprise the wife with it some day lol

Reminds me of this guy. Not a factory install by any means.

very kool , but what a nightmare to keep in tune and running in synch ........... not to mention that i could really see those ones overheating hauling around that big truck , the trailer and load screaming at the top of their lungs due to the needed gearing for our underpowered flatties to pull it all around .

Thorco did come up with the dual-motor design of the bomber haulers; he notes, however, that it was simply a matter of routing the power from the left engine to the rear axle and the right engine to the front axle, then ensuring that both engines received the same amount of vacuum and that their four-speed transmissions were shifted in synchronization. - Hemmings

Wow, I wonder about how well those engines were synchronized using only a vacuum line. It would seem that there might be lots of tire wear. Going around corners where the front wheels travel more than the rear would probably have caused some dangerous understeer and traction loss on wet or slick surfaces particularly if you had the throttles open. Fuel economy would have suffered significantly also, but then with two engines that probably was never a consideration. If they did any real world testing I question whether all 100 were ever built. Maybe it was only for low speed, short hauls?

Great find Dick. Thanks for sharing it.
