ICP question??

Well I am travelling to Disney this weekend and I have been checking over the truck. I found oil in the ICP connector and I am worried about the sensor now, I plan on trying to get one at the dealership in the morning but they don't have parts for 7.3 in stock most of the time , could I get a napa one or just replace it when I get back.? thanks this place has help me out on every trip and I don't want to break down with the mother in law riding with us.

Dont get one at napa. Get one from Riffraff. They are OEM but way cheaper than a dealer. Even if there is oil, the sensor might not go bad for a while. Mine has had oil on it for as long as I can remember. And the truck will run just fine with a bad one, I just wouldnt wait very long once it went bad.

You're fine. Theres no reason to even worry about it on your trip.

I agree with Trey. You can also clean the connection with contact/brake cleaner and put some dielectric grease in the sensor socket to buy you some time. If it does cause running issues, you can always unplug it and run on the PCM's default setting until you replace it with a good OEM one.

What mueckster said. Contact Cleaner or Degreaser like Purple Power. The rubber and plastic parts sometimes don't react well to stronger solvents like Brake Cleaner

I'm with whitetmw on this, I used contact cleaner (not aggressive on plastics). Every auto parts store carries it.

Good point. I use a non-chlorinated brake cleaner, do not let it sit for long, and blow it off with air.
BTW, I generally wash brake parts with water, then spray with brake cleaner. The water supersaturates the brake fluid & flushes it away and the brake cleaner removes the residue & dries it.
