Lightbulb Aerostar Power Window Switch Removal

I have an embarassingly silly question...I have problems with 1992 Ford Aerostar power windows, driver's side currently stuck down, plastic switch broken by my daughter who seemed to think that pushing harder on the switch would make it go up.

I've pulled the small panel that the switches are in and now I'd like to remove what's left of the switch assembly to see test it and do other troubleshooting.

How do you get the wires off the darned thing? I've tried pulling straight away from the switch assembly, and to the side, no luck. They do come off at the switch, don't they? Or are the wires hard-wired to the switch assembly and is there another connector or harness that I need to remove the door panel to get at?

Thanks in advance,

Aerostar Power Window Switch Removal

Just went through the same thing with mine. Disconnect the positive side of the battery first then use a small regular screwdriver to work the switch loose from between the back of the switch and the black plastic connection that the wires are running into. Switches for the driver side run about $30 and $15 for the passenger side.
