Hey i have a 95 f150 4.9 m5od 4x4. Yesterday i was driving home and while going around a turn i hit the gas and felt alot of violent axle wrap (normal for my truck) and immeadiatly the exaust sounded louder and the 5th and reverse side of the trans is really hard to move the shifter to. When i got home i noticed my idle was fluctuating by about 200 rpm. My first thought was i broke a motor mount but could this be a transmission issue? There is also more vibration than usual when its running.
I had written something else in here (try giving truck throttle while holding it stationary) but... you have a 300. All sorts of room to work on either side of the engine so what's even easier is to just get in there with a prybar and see if you can move the engine around.
I just replaced mine... they didn't look that bad, but when I took them out they were literally crumbling. I didn't have broken exhaust or anything... but I did notice my t-case shifter leaning at a strange angle, and my exhaust manifold was resting on the frame...

Im going to spend some time looking at the mounts today. If they arent cracked or broke i will take the boot off the shifter and look to see if the trans has a internal problem. Im really hoping this isnt a trans problem. I can get a used one at the junkyard for 400 bucks but this is my daily driver so replacing the trans will be a real inconvienience for me.

$400! Dayum!! Round here the yard charges $135 for a transmission or transfer case... I think you need to find a different yard lol. Maybe it's just about what they all charge where you live?
I dont think im going to need one because today when i got to school i messed around with the 4x4 shifter and going to 4 low and back because 4x4 light on the dash wasnt turning on but the low range one was. After messing with it a little the light worked again. Then to my suprise all the symptoms stopped, like it was never even broken.
