Pecan tree. The commercial pecan tree is said to have been developed in San Saba by Edmond E. Risien. The 'mother tree' is still there.

American Pomological Society - Journal Volume 52 Number 1 ´San Saba` Pecan

Crap...brain cells just started firing...PINE tree.

Oh well, maybe somebody will find the pecan tree trivia interesting...lol

As in Piney Woods......I expected Pecan tree to be the first wrong guess because it is a large cash crop in Texas. It's also a beautiful hardwood.

Wrong- That's one too many. Lake Caddo is Texas' only natural lake.

Had to cheat and google the answer. Seems you're mostly right, but it can be argued that there are more. I knew about that one but I thought there was another one up by Dallas too. The others are by the gulf and are considered bays.

The lakes around Dallas are anything but natural- the water in them might be considered "unnatural" nowadays-

The bays are not freshwater. One could argue that there are more natural lakes in Texas if you look underground. ......
