I've been looking at some of the HPX rails and want some input. Hard line or soft line. Every bone in my body is saying hard line but just wanted to make sure I'm going with the right choice?
I went with the flexible line. It's double insulated for heat protection and installs easily due to its flexibility. Just make sure when tightening down, the line doesn't twist into anything and make contact, i.e. turbo. I have never heard of a flexible HPX failing on anyone.
I had a soft line.....fine print said it would only last one year.....it failed at about the one year mark.
I just ordered the stainless steel line from Dennis at Sinister Diesel; formally known as ITP Diesel. BTW, I also ordered RiffRaff's FRx fuel crossover lines.
Steel line here. Can't say I noticed much difference but I fell better with it on anyway.
In my case it mellowed the idle noticeably, or to put it another way, it sounded more even. The biggest change for me is that it nearly eliminated the romps. I run Delo 400 and on cold start ups it would romp fairly regularly below 45F and occasionally above 50F. After HPX, I recall only a couple occasions it romped at freezing temps, and both times I remember not leaving the glow plugs on as long as I should have.
