need help please , 94 bronco 302/e4od, intermittantly , especially when engne is cold it will not accelerate and pings terribly. no faults stored , recently tuned and timed.sometimes seems to idle o/k jut a little rough but as soon as i try to give it gas it stumbles and pings loudly. i can tell when it is going to act up just by the way it sounds when it is cranking during start up. almost sounds like a high performance engine with too much timing advance.dont know what to look for , thanks
If it was not doing this prior to the tune up, then who did the tune up?
I think I would look for crossed plug wires. During a tune up sometimes a person might attach the wrong plug wire to the wrong plug. If two wires get crossed then it will do as you describe.
Re check your wiring diagram just to make sure the plug wires come from the correct spot on the distributor and go to the correct plug in the engine.
When you checked the timing did you unplug the timing advance plug thingy on the drivers side fender? I don't think it is your egr valve,
because i have mine unhook and my truck run better with it unhooked than it did with it on.
