Thanks for the info. According to her auction they are 315 mhz so are you saying they should be 433 mhz? What's the difference? I emailed her yesterday and she said she's sold 500 sets to owners of 2009-2014 Fords including some to F150 owners with zero complaints. A lot of the feedbacks she's received said they didn't have to train them because it happened automatically so what's the problem with my wheels? They came from the factory on a 2012 F150 XLT....

i guess i'm not knowledgeable to say for sure that you need one or the other, only that there are two different types.
it could be that the two types of systems use the same sensor, and the difference is in the TPMS programming. My understanding was that the two systems used two different sensors, but that may not be accurate.... there may be others that know better than I

have you tried this?
if they need to be initialized, and haven't been, then this would explain your troubles.
not sure if your new tool can do this or not.
might not hurt to verify the programing sequence in your owner's manual as well.
this site: TPMS fits 2013 Ford F-150 OEM Tire Pressure Sensor
has a completely different programming method than your flasher sequence you eluded to earlier.
What do you mean by initialized? I tried the method in the owner's manual of letting the air out and gave up when it was at 25 pounds. There are several videos on YouTube under "Ford TPMS training" which show both the training tool method and also the letting air out method and they make it look real easy but it obviously hasn't been that easy for me....
I took it to my friendly local Ford dealer today and they couldn't train them either. They have the same training tool that I have (small grey rectangular thing that looks like a garage door remote with a red button in the middle) and they didn't have any luck. The tires had 40-44 psi and he lowered them to 38 psi because that's what it says on the door sticker for the 17s that it came with (it has 18s on it now) but that didn't make any difference. They didn't say anything about "waking up" the sensors but I did drive the truck a couple of miles before I went there (1/4 mile from my house). Any more suggestions?
i'm at the end of my knowledge, so i doubt i can be of any help.
On page two of your link it mentions a "customer activation tool." Is that the training tool that I already have or something else?
The eBay seller gave me a full refund of the $47.99 that I paid for them today. She said she's sold 500 sets of identical Ford TMPS sensors and never had any complaints before now. I told her if I get them trained and the problem isn't the fault of the sensors I'll send her the money back. Do you think taking the truck for a long drive could somehow activate them? The longest I've driven it with them in is 6 miles. Any other ideas?
Did you try doing a different wheel first? Sorry if you did already, didn't want to read the whole thread. Maybe the sensor in the front left is defective.

Yesterday I swapped the front and rear tires on the driver's side but it didn't make any difference....
Dude Lebowski ... According to her auction they are 315 mhz so are you saying they should be 433 mhz? What's the difference?
315 mhz - late-2008+ stem-type.
433 mhz - pre-2009 band-type.

I purchased a set from her last year and was one of the ones that had 0(zero) issues.
.
Could they have been installed in the wheels wrong or is there only one way to do it? I've been going to this small independent shop for years and they seem to know what they're doing. The guy who installed them has been working there for 14 years....
SUCCESS!!! I decided to visit two local tire stores-Big O and Ken Towery-who both have several stores in the Louisville area. I went to Big O first and three different guys tried programming them with their tool with no success. Then I drove a block to Ken Towery and the guy there put the truck in training mode a different way. I had been turning the flashers on and off three times and then it said "train left front tire" but nothing happened. He turned the key on and off several times and pushed down on the brake pedal a couple of times and put it into training mode that way. That was the correct way to do it because as he held the training tool at each valve stem the horn honked and he had the job done in less than five minutes and the best part is he did it for free. Thanks to all who offered advice and support....
