2011 E250 accelerated by itself stopped at a light
Weird thing happened a few days ago. I was stopped at a light and found myself creeping up on the car ahead of me. I stepped harder on the brake and stopped again, then realized that is wasn't me getting light footed, the tach was showing about 1500 RPM. I put it in neutral and the RPMs went up. I goosed the accelerator and everything returned to normal, it hasn't done it since. I DO have floor mats, but the mat wasn't by the pedal. The van does have cruise control, but I don't use it around town and barely use it on the highway. I had driven about 3 miles on city streets since it was last parked. I had been driving all over town that day.
53K =/-, no vibration or other signs of a failing engine mount. Never been wrecked or airborne. This is a company owned fleet vehicle I've had since it was brand new on the dealer's lot.
Any thoughts/ideas? Anyone else had a similar experience?
Thanks for the confirmation, I knew I wasn't going crazy. Mine did it once and it caught me off guard. Thankfully nothing happened. I'm sure it would go over well if I rear ended someone and claimed "It accelerated by itself".
