Dies while driving down the road
My father just purchase a pickup, I think it is a 2001 F150 Lariat 4 door short box, automatic, it has a V8 I am not sure if it is the 4.6 or 5.7. It has died a few times in the last few months while he is driving down the road. I was with him this last time and it just shuts off while your driving. He had the cruise on, we were going about 60MPH and it shut off. I noticed that the speedo and tach just fell to 0. He put it in N and coasted to a stop. Tried to start it about 3 times and after about 5 seconds the third time it fired up and ran fine the rest of the day. I don't think there is a check engine light or any other warning lights. I think the rear anti-lock light might have been on since he purchased it. Any ideas?
