I am going to have to buy new tires in the next couple of months. I have narrowed down my choices to Kumho KL71 MT, Super Swamper TSL Radial, or BFG Mud Terrain KM2. I was just wondering if anyone has any personal experience using these tires and what their thoughts are on performance, longevity, and ride. Keeping in mind about 90% of my driving is on road and used as everyday driver. Of the off roading that I do, there is only 1 place I really need a mud tire, and that is pulling my boat to a pond I fish. I have been through the hole pulling a boat before with my old 79 using BFG ATs, but you kind of had to get on it to make it when it is bad. Rough on the boat. Any opinions will be appreciated. If they still made them I would go mith a Maxi-Trac, but alas they are loooong gone. I have Pro Comp xtreme MTs on the ol gal now but am not really happy with the wear. They pull great in mud and well in sand aired down. Just dont last worth a damn.
I have ran both the super swampers and the BFG MT's and while both are good mud tires, super swampers were better in the mud yet the BFG's were better on the road (less noisy and a touch smoother). The best overall performing tires that I have ran are by far the Mickey Thompson ATZ's. Just my .02
I have the Falken Wild Peak ATs on my 96 and love them. Pricing is a lot better that the BFGs plus they come with a 50k warranty against defects where the others don't.
