Hi all:
I had problems with my 02'F250 7.3 (220,000 mi) stalling out at low RPM after running for approx ten minutes. They truck would then crank but no start however if I let it sit over night it would fire right back up then stall again at low rpm after about 10 minutes of driving. It was suggested by some of our members that I replace the IPR which I did (motorcraft new part). When I installed the new part I siphoned all of the oil that I could out of the HPOP changed the IPR, measured the oil I removed then replaced with fresh in HPOP. Now when I start the truck it idles very poorly does not die but I am a little hesitant to take it out on the road again. Any suggestions? I really need this truck to run dependably . Thanks
You've introduced air into your oil system and it's expected to be a little rough at first. You can let it idle for a long time, or drive it around close to home to see if it improves. I just completely drained my whole oil system and it will take about 50 miles of driving to get everything back to normal.
Tugly probably nailed it but when I changed my IPR it idled up an down and ran rough. My real problem was the ICP which had oil in the connector. Changed it and everything was fine. I had miss diagnosed the IRP to start with. Just thought I would throw it out there in case it didn't get better.
Thanks Bob I hope it isn't the ICP as I just changed it less than 200 miles ago, I haven had time to get it out and run it but will keep that in mind.
I really appreciate you guys taking the time to get back with me will let you know how it goes
