Front susp bump stops...round or rectangle?

Are the front susp bump stops that attach to the frame and sit over the leaf springs supposed to be round or rectangle? The dealer tried to sell me smaller rectangle ones, but the old one was round I thought.

IMO... it doesn't matter. Does one work better? Time answers that question... and the number of squishes it takes. I'd go with material quality rather than design difference.

I need 'em too.

He was selling you the version found on the newer model Excursions.

Years ago, a lot of guys with the older round versions used to upgrade to the newer version because they are a bit shorter.

I just cut mine to make them shorter.

Use whichever is cheaper.

No you need the hexagon ones!

People cut them, remove them, replace them, upgrade them, but the bottom line is if they allow you to bottom out you need some shackles or maybe change the springs. They just keep it from clacking when they bottom and you can actually get more travel by removing them.

Well I will be putting on new Ford V-code front springs, so I thought I'd just get the correct bump stop to add at the same time.

You probably won't even need them with those.

The stock ones on my '05 are round and still in pretty good shape, my front springs weren't too beat when I swapped them out at 70k.

There were black round rubber pile-style fixed under my 2000 Ex Limited.
The rubber was totally hard and flaked, pealed and chipped, while the metal
lash was totally rosted.
I bought a new set black PUR (round) knobby from energy suspension and made my own lash from 3/8" stainless steel.
That should last for some days.

I took mine off after the new springs. If I ever contact my springs to my frame I need to apologize to my truck for whatever I was doing. I have about 6" of clearance at least.
