different length leaf springs.
I noticed that the springs on my short wheel base seem too long. The shackle is leaning way back, almost resting on the hanger. My question is there different length springs, say for a short wheelbase, and a long wheelbase. I think that someone may have swapped in the wrong ones.

Ford put two totally different sets of springs on these trucks. One consists of a normal looking setup with a simple shackle and hanger on each end, and the other was called Flex-O-Matic. The latter has a compensating rear shackle that flexes when a load is put on it for a supposedly better ride. I do believe the springs were longer (atlease the top spring) with the flexomatic optoin. Kind of hard to explain, maybe someone else can do better than I can.......
