Thanks franklin I will check on that one tommorow. I will advance it some and trk too lean it out. Am I still looking for a peak in the vaccume to do this or shouldo I lean past the higest vaccume. And will check float level set this weekend when I get my other truck. I apologize but this is my first carburator and no one around here is very good with them.
And as far as vapor lock or too much pressure in the tank no, the plug in the top of the tanks has a relief valve in it positive and neg pressure.
Since there are so many mods to the truck you are surely running the DS-II ignition with a blue grommet where the wires come out - right? If so, where is your vacuum line from the distributor connected to the carb? It should be on ported vacuum, which is the left port when looking at the front of the carb. If it is on the right port your idle will be high and, like Dave said, may have you into the off-idle or transition circuit, which will make the idle mix screws ineffective. This installation manual may help.
Also, on the Edelbrocks the easy way to set float level is to pull the top, turn it over, and check with a 7/16" drill bit as shown on Page 15 of the owner's manual. And, that manual explains the circuits quite well.
