can somebody give me some advice, I have a 302 in my truck with a mild performer cam e- street heads small valves performer dual plane intake headers. My 4105 600 cfm manual choke carb is way to rich I have checked the floats they are at 7/16 just like the manual says. Its mostly when idling and very hard to start and when it does lots of black smoke. could a 600 cfm be to big for a 302. O ya I am running 5lbs fuel pressure. Need help.

A 600 should be fine for the way you set up that 302. The problem is eddy's are set up rich at the factory. Aimed at more cubic inches than your 302. Try primary (front) metering rods 2 sizes leaner.
Thanks for the advice. but when it comes to carbs I no nothing the two rods are out now and they have orange springs but I don't know the size of the rods. the carb right now is stock. So could you dumb it down for me thanks.

I have a Carter "Strip kit" from 20 odd years ago. Seems all the metering rods had numbers stamped on them for easy reference. I used to play around with that style carb many years ago. I've since changed to Holley and never looked back.
