Up Pipe Mod

For those that have done the up pipe mod by removing the scoop and welding in a plug, how has this mod held up over time?

I've had my stealth delete with scoop removed and plugged for around 15000 miles with no issues or cell, mines a late 05.

Holds up just fine. I have stealth delete with a welded cooler.

When I was doing my HG's I came across a up-pipe without the scoop on Ebay. I bought it and installed it on my truck. I've had no issues with it since it's been on my truck the last 9K miles.

This brings on a question. Did Ford make some of those up pipes (early run 6.0's) that didn't have the scoop in them? When I removed my up-pipe. It had the scoop and for the life of me I couldn't remove the scoop. The one I bought off Ebay didn't have any cut marks of any kind on it. Makes me believe ford made some without the scoop then added it later. My truck is an 06.

Sounds good, just thinking it would be nice to have an option to choose stock or deleted by swapping up pipes. I see a lot on of used up pipes on eBay for cheap. Along the same lines as a cat delete pipe I guess.

Not sure about the later ones. I thought the early style for round egr coolers did not have the scoop. Glad it has worked out for you.

The early style rounded coolers have an up-pipe with no scoop.

It also seems the 05+ F450 and F550 with 6.0 engines also do not have the scoop even though the F250/F350 did.

When I was using the "sneaky pipe" it worked great. Drove for PLENTY of miles before going to the full delete and a ported manifold. Never an issue. I would suggest for those who "need" the sneaky option to replace the expansion bellows with some HD bellows.

Sounds good, looking into the HD bellows. I didn't realize it was a common failure until now, and with the extra flow I can see why you'd recommend that.

Nice! How did you source the bellows?

Those are made by Vibrant and are 3 layered.

I'll create a write up on repairing a y pipe later today.
