I am running Everstart Maxx 65S batteries with 700 CCA's and after a couple years I had them tested and they tested at 670 CCA's. The manager said that the batteries were not bad but he replaced them since they wouldn't start my Excursion.
While I was at Walmart I looked up the factory CCA's and the Excursion originally came with batteries rated for 750 CCA's but the Walmart's replacement was the Everstart Maxx 65S batteries. So is this my problem, over time the CCA's decrease but are still in spec. for the battery but not for my Excursion? I don't know what would cause the CCA's to decrease but the Excursion does sit during the weekdays.
Is this a gas excursion? You only mentioned one battery.
He actually referred to them in the plural sense.

If you have a diesel you have the wrong battery. It should be a 65 N which is 850 cca
not to say a smaller battery wont work but the 850 cca battery is good for starting when times are not optimum..(cooled starts with thicker oil) extreme heat in the summer ...which by the way is what kills batteries is heat.
Check all your connections on both ends of battery cables and their specific destination. A loose and or corroded connection will keep a battery from giving off its full juice.
I'll have to check to see if they carry the 65N in Southern California. I just don't understand why a battery would be considered good but the CCA has gone down by 30 AMPS. I am not having any problems with the new batteries they gave me but I am wondering if they fall to 670 AMPS if I am going to have problems again. I guess I need to do some reading up on batteries.
