I have a 1986 f350 crew cab 4wd 6.9l diesel. I need to find the sending units for both tanks. Part numbers: e5tz9275f and e5tz9275b. Ford no longer makes and I cant find anywhere else. Please help and thanks again!!
Not sure what to type. Im not real good with puters
The VB forum search function sucks and always has. Google is better at pulling up relevant threads and even archived threads.
You just type into Google home page
"whatever you're looking for"
and then
site:ford-trucks.com
or whatever site you want to search.
To answer your question, you can't get them any more.
You either have to find a used one, make one or fix the one you have.
Or, you can try to make something else work. Either way, you'll have to use your prepper/wilderness survival skills. Good practice for when the zombies come.
Use that Google search that I showed you to see how everyone else has solved the same problem.
There are probably a dozen different solutions.
#11 on page 57 of the LMC catalog is the sending unit for diesels. There's no 84 (my model), so if I were to need a rear tank, could I buy this unit, but replace my plug (#13 on LMC) with the 85-86 plug (#14)?
My only suggestion/workaround if the front tank unit is bad and you can't replace it or repair it, you could consider getting the 38 gallon rear tank to make up for the difference.

Call them and ask that question. I called them when I did my tanks and they were really helpful.
Also, I ended getting my two tanks for about $98 a piece from Advance (online) with a 15% discount, 3 year warranty and free shipping- Made in Canada and rated for biodiesel.
I'd guess that the one for the '85-'86 (rear one only is available) has all the same hookups. The '83-84's didn't have the Cone of Failure on them, so that's probably why they're not listed since technically it's not the same part.
How about putting in gasser units? They are available and you get an electric fuel pump. The question is will the gasser electric pump stand up to diesel? I think I've read of others doing this but no reports on reliability. Or if the pump is a worry, use the gasser pickup and sender and put on diesel pump in place of the gasser pump.

LMC has two different electrical sockets, one for for 80-84 and one for 85-86.

Sounds like it was changed then unless that's for gassers, Ford didn't make an IDI diesel pickup in '80-82. I have an 85/86 one in the box at home, I can get pictures for comparison if someone has the 83/84.
