5 Star Tune Question

I got my tuner a while ago and chose the 87 tow, 87 perf, 87 econ, 93 tow and 93 perf tunes.

They all run good, the 87 economy tune shifts like my 2011 did which isn't as good as the stock 2013 cal which has higher shift points. That's just an observation not a complaint.

My issue is the idle speed. All the tunes idle between 730-750 rpm in drive (have a scangauge). In neutral it's around 500 rpm. Sitting at a light in drive it wants to push through the brakes! I've tried adjusting the idle speed in drive under additional options in all of them and it makes no difference what I set it at. Even went back to stock and started from scratch, still no dice. I think its set at 375 rpm in drive but as soon as I put it in gear... up goes the idle.

Has anyone else had this issue? I need to email Mike but wanted to ask here also.

I haven't noticed that with mine but I'll pay closer attention to it this morning (will hook up my monitor as well). I would've expected the setting through the SCT unit would help, surprised it didn't. Definitely reach out to Mike, he's pretty quick to reply when I email him.

My RPM's between being in gear and out of gear were extremely close, right around 700, fluctuating between 680 and 720. My truck was warmed up when I took the readings, running the 93 tune.

My truck doesn't feel like it's trying to lurch at a stoplight from the few stops I had this morning.

Thanks for checking. Mike sent new tunes with stock idle speed today, excellent service.

I'll have to take a quick video of it. Unless I'm really standing on the brakes it wants to roll forward when in drive.

I noticed the same thing with mine, stock it sits fine at lights and stopping but with the 87 perf. I do notice needing more brake. Mine is stock right now, at dealer, but I will be putting a 1000 miles on it next week so I will pay more attention, might be giving 5 star a call!

I did have Mike mod my program for hard 4th to 5th shifting, he set it closer to stock and it took care of the slamming into gear. Its nice being able to custom tune the quirks of individual trucks, all you need to do is call, open e-mail and plug in, no hassles.
