ECT/EOT cold soak vs. hot

I'm curious....if our ECT and EOT are off a few degrees after a cold soak, will they be off when they are hot as well? For instance.....if ECT is 70 and EOT is 72 at cold start up, will the EOT read 2* higher than it's actual temperature when it's hot too?

How long was your cold soak? I noticed it took up to 18 hours overnight in summer for them to be the same -- can you let it sit say all weekend? It's amazing how long the block will hold some heat.

But in answer to your question if say after a day or two you saw 2 deg diff. and after several of these checks and it always was the same, I'd be in the camp that the reading is linear and will always be that far apart (plus any "true" delta).

Tough to say if the temp difference is linear according to heat.

Only way to know would be to measure resistance at cold soak and again at operating temp.

Sometimes the truck will sit for a week and I'll notice the EOT is 2* higher than ECT before starting. I was thinking it would be linear too, but wasn't sure how someone would know..... or how to verify it.

Assume the 2* delta is constant across the operating range!

That gallon of milk actually has "more than" 1 gallon in it. Look at the 6-pack of drink bottles at the store - they are NOT "exactly" the same level they are approximately some value - and generally "at least" the amount they claim.

The speedometer is off by about 3 MPH at 70MPH (stock tire size), there is a voltage drop between the "battery" and my voltmeter - I have 2 batteries, and I never wonder how their voltages compare, I replace them in pairs.

What about the sign that says /your favorite city/ 33 miles? Where in /your favorite city/ is it measured to from? is it really 33.2 miles? or 32.8 miles? is it measured from where the sign is mounted? or where somebody with 20/20 vision can first read it traveling at the posted speed limit?

Two degrees + or - is more than likely well within the accuracy range of the sensors. If the eot sensor if off -2 degrees and the eot is off +2 degrees you have a 4 degree spread and everything is still wthin tolerances. Hypothetically that is.
