Wow. Congrats. I wished I could have gotten mine for that! Jeesh. I paid a hefty $5900 for mine with lots of problems but tight diesel trucks are hard to come by around here.
Nice Rig. Looks very similar to mine. i got a 95 too.
Thanks! Ya he wanted 3k for it and it would've come with a d60 to swap in but I figured for 1900 I didn't need the d60 quite yet. Has a good bit of miles, but he told me he'd just replaced a bunch of things in the engine
Do y'all have any suggestions for tires? I want something that can handle off road duties if needed but can also withstand towing duties. I've been looking at Goodyear Duratracs but I've heard mixed things
Good looking truck! That is a very desirable color for a lot of people. You did well getting it for that price too. And a 5 speed to boot! Nice, NICE truck. That's a great foundation to build on.
Welcome to FTE! Congratulations on your purchase, these trucks are fantastic and will treat you right with proper maintenance.
The main thing is to use the proper diesel rated oil. 10 guys are going to give you 10 different brands to run. Find one that fits your budget, that your truck likes and stick with it. I personally run Shell Rotella T6 full synthetic and do a change every 5k. I also run a larger filter. But staying on top of oil changes is paramount to keeping these old trucks happy!
Here is the link to the filters I and some others run.
Todd, how do you like this filter? I can get them at work pretty cheap so I just ordered 5 of them. I know Donaldson rules, but just wondering. I saw the micron ratings were pretty tight.
I use that filter as well.
They have pretty tight tolerances to the edge of the pan, but I love them and feel much better about longer OCI because of them.

Yeah, what those other guys said. Lol. Great filter, it's a beast! The only problem I've encountered was Bill whining about his finger and that filter. When he was jacking up my motor during the trans swap, it was real tight on the crossmember. Normal conditions it performs marvelously. Since money is tight right now, I run full synthetic with it, I'm pushing this OCI to 7500. We shal see what the analysis says. Lol
