Ignition system

I recently purchased a 1994 broco 5.8 liter . I am having a severe engine miss. Set ignition timing checked for intake leaks checked fuel pressure regulator and still have bad misfire. My next step is going to replace cap rotor wires and plugs, my question to you guys is two things 1 should I only use motor craft parts or can I use MSD ignition parts and 2 is there anything else I should check? I am new to the ford world and would love some help! Thanks

Well after putting a new dist cap rotor and spark plugs the has decreased alot but there is stil a small miss. I ran some carbon cleaner through the intake but no better . What else?

Run the engine in the dark with all vehicle lights off(pull fuse to disable DRL if you have them) and look for arcing from the plugs or wires.

I had the same problem with my 94. Found it was a bad distributor.
