1970(?) F600 brake fundamentals????
I was just given a 1970(?) f600 dumptruck. Where (online) can I find the fundamentals of the braking system? I know that brakes are VERY IMPORTANT on bigger trucks and want to learn as much as I can!
There is a large vacuum booster (???) located under the drivers side step up/running board. There are yellowed manilli tags hanging off the unit under there, but the writing is faded. What's that all about? Inspected??There is a vacuum gauge on the cluster. I only drove the truck 10' front and back, & the brakes seem to be working fine, but I think I should give 'em a go over before I haul a load.
Are parts for this truck readily available at NAPA & Acme?? It has a 330 motor, and I ordered a "Y" pipe from NAPA.
I would like to find this info. on-line, but I know I will have to get a repair manual. Where to get that? I would really like to look at a diagram of all the braking components asap.
Can someone just give me the basics of how they work and what the parts under the running board entail (various hoses, etc.)?
I own a '73 F350 Dumptruck as well!
Thanks in advance for ALL input!!

About a manual, contact www.motorhaven.com about the
Detriot Iron CDRom manual. I'm pretty sure it covers the larger trucks.
Yes, Parts are available for heavy duty rigs still.
