Well I have a 61 F-600 DumpTruck with a blown up 292 and I found a 1965 352 4-speed pick up, and I have been told its a easy swap
but who has done it?
and what do I need from the donor truck?
please help!!!
Well, I went and looked at the donor and found that the mounts are trans and mid-not front and bellhouseing so to make this work I'm going to have to make mounts
I need to crawl under my dumptruck and see if the trans has a pad for a mount and what the bolt pattern of the trans to bellhouseing is
can anyone help with information or am I on my own?
Now I have 2 wrecking yards looking for the setup I need!
1 has "old trucks" in the back of the yard that no one has looked at in a long time
and the other has a old truck to pick up that they know nothing about
Actually I'm not sure there was a 352 for trucks, was there? I think you'll need a 361/391 if you want to step up to an FE type motor, or at least the bellhousing, flywheel, and clutch from one. Not sure about any balancing issues there. I suppose you could fab a front mount for a 352 if that's what you had, but you'll need the truck type back end anyway, and possibly oil pan, so you might as well look for a complete 361 or 391 and keep it simple. 332, 352, 360, 390, 428, and small blocks wont help you.
I thought about this with my '62 C600 and decided to rebuild the 292.

I have the front mount and bell housing with mounting ears that you need. I've been saving them for a swap myself but if you want them $200 plus shipping. Looks like shipping will be pricy from akron ohio to WA. Let me know

Hi from australia im just getting ready to do the same but with a 361ft (block same as yours ) you need three mounts , two at the ( bellhousing ) one at the crank it bolts on . what mounts are on the 292 now ? i do have a spare bell that you need but not the front mount ( i need one ) contart me if you need any help ok the clutch set up mit be the same (my clutch is the same set up as the 361ft/391 ) so check 1st flywheel you need is on your 352 same starter to , you will have to change your exhaust, fuel pump is the same to , i use a holly electri pump and block to old hole up hope this helps you
Like Kevin, I scrounged an FE bellhousing with the engine mounts and the truck FE timing cover to do a swap into an early F100. I think the front engine mount for heavy trucks is not like the F100 front engine mounts. I know that a 3/4 ton truck is different.
I had a 57 F-250 with a 352 from the factory. That was the most useless under powered engine on the planet. I hauled a 10' slide in camper to Colorado and due to the lack of power I almost had to homestead a hole I got into out there. As soon as I got home I installed a 429 out of a police car that had been wrecked along with the C6 tranny. That was the smartest thing I ever did and it was almost a bolt in conversion. I had to cut down the drive shaft and move the rear cross member and that was it! The next year I went back to Colorado and back to that same hole and it was NO PROBLEM. Tons of power! I would rather have any engine than a 352. Totally useless!
That is odd. I have also been told the FE Block (332 to 428) was not introduced until 1958 in cars. Trucks saw the FE Block (352 version) in 1965. Some heavy duty trucks (F500 and up) saw the Lincoln Y Block prior to the 65 model year. Are you sure it was 1957?
