We bought a 2001 Explorer Sport last weekend & like it so far. We have, however spotted one problem with the locks. I have read several threads here but have not seen an exact duplicate to our problem.
1. Key fob & door panel switches will lock & unlock both passenger door and rear hatch, but not driver's door.
2. Solenoid can be heard operating in driver door when pressing lock or unlock.
3. Pushing or pulling the **** on the top of the door panel does not lock or unlock the driver's door.
4. Driver's door can be locked from outside with the key, but the lock cylinder does not rotate in the opposite direction to unlock the door.
5. Driver's door can be unlocked & opened from the inside by reaching across the vehicle & pulling the handle.
I have not yet disassembled the door to check anything and am looking for advice on the repair before I kill a couple of hours on it.
It sounds like the linkage is binding inside the driver's door for the power lock. I think you're going to need to open the door panel and have a look at what's going on.
