Weird VIN Code?

So I've been trying to decode my VIN#, but on every decode list, my # doesn't match. I checked the VIN decoder sticky post on these forums, but same thing.

Specifically, it's the 5th character, the Assembly Plant Code. The 5th character in my VIN is "Y". I've not seen any decoder website info list a "Y" at all.

Granted this is not an urgent matter, or necessary to me. Just curious. Am I missing something obvious?

Posting the entire VIN would probably help the more knowledgeable folks here to help with your question.

F15HY000xxx

I just couldn't bring myself to post the whole thing, but theres the guts of it.

I know F15 = F150 2 Wheel Drive

And H = V8 - 351cid - 2BBL carb - 1973-80

But then for the 5th code, Y, all I ever find is:
B - Oakville, Ontario, Canada
C - Ontario, Canada
E - Mahhaw, NJ
H - Lorain, OH
I - Highland Park, MI
K - Kansas City, MO
L - Michigan Truck
N - Norfold, VA
P - Twin Cities, MN
R - San Jose, CA
S - Allen Park, MI
U - Louisville, KY
V - Kentucky Truck

Are you sure its a "Y" and not a disfigured "V"?

I've always known any "Y" code in the VIN # to indicate the truck originally came with a 300 I6 (4.9L) engine.

Fourth VIN character is the engine code. "Y" is 360 2bbl V8. Engine code "B" is for the 300 (4.9L) 6 cylinder.

So after removing layers of grime, it's not a magled "V". It's a mangled "U". Louisville, KY plant.

All the old registrations in the truck have the VIN listed as it being a "Y", and the title has it listed as a "Y" as well. I wonder if this will create a headache down the road.

Once you've had to deal with identity theft/wire fraud, it's not "paranoia", it's "being cautious". Thanks for the help.

When I have re-titled a vehicle with a single typo or mis-read in the VIN it hasn't been a problem... your experience may vary.

77-79 it became the other engine........
