Bilstein shock ?'s

I HATE how soft my trucks suspension is off road. I would like to get some bilstein 5100 Series (Ride Height Adjustable) for the front and rear.

2012 fx4 screw
I have 1.5 leveling kit and I would like to add about another 1.5" to the front. I believe that is the middle position on the shocks.
Am I to close to the max lift I can do without doing other work to the suspension? Will this affect the downward travel to much?

I did some research but did not come up with a for sure yes or no.

Thanks in advance,
Hunt

I think that you probably can, but why? That would just about guarantee a "miserable" ride. Keeping the spacer on top of the strut and setting the 5100 in the center position sounds like it would make the strut hard to fit back into the pocket and you'd end up with less travel than you currently have. Off-road, suspension travel, like lift can be your friend. There's probably someone out there who has tried this and can tell you for sure what you'd end up with comfort wise.

One of the reasons I ask is because my buddy installed a 1.5 spacer and the 5100s on the middle setting on his 06 titian. I like the stance of his truck but I wanted to make sure if I did that I would not be hurting my truck.
I don't mind a firmer ride. I should probably take the spacer out and set the bilsteins to the correct setting.
If anyone else has any experience please chime in

Well, my F-150 had 5100's on there set to full level and upgraded my tires to 275/65R20 Goodyear Duratracs (34.1" tall tire). I did a full write-up on its ride mannerisms here: Bilstein Writeup

Thank you Jus2shy that is the exact info I was looking for! I will be putting 33" or 34" trail graplers in the future and looks like that will work out perfectly!

I will post pictures later on when I get the shocks.
