My dear wife had decided to set up my truck with satellite radio for my birthday. Well...... we got an education on that aspect. And no sat radio.
So today I got around to setting up my Sync account. Spent several minutes reading and updating information for my account. Even received an email confirming the activation of Sync services. But..... my account shows no service for my truck. Huh?
So I call Ford Support.
This is where my education continues. On the Sync website, Ford states that all vehicles equipped with Sync are entitled to a three year complimentary subscription to Sync Services.
Not true. Since I purchased a previously owned vehicle, this does not apply to me. To me a complimentary service should start and end with the in service date of the vehicle. Shouldn't matter who drives it. Not the case here.
So if you are like me and have purchased ( or are contemplating purchasing)a previously owned vehicle, be aware of one more thing you have to deal with. Another cost to us.... like the sat radio.... you didn't anticipate.
No big deal you say? Eh...True. But I could have wasted the time on something more important.
If they don't grant their customers a trial period to figure out how Sync works, then the customer will have no reason to pay $60 a year for a subscription.
Not trying to make this a bitchnmoan session. Just the frustration and disappointment with this truck gaining momentum....... daily.
As far as I know...
Their are no fees for Sync. You're talking about Sync Services which is an additional option which does have subscription fees. That gets you connection to the services portal for turn by turn directions, call for help, etc. Regular Sync is software in your truck and should be permanent and fee free. When my three year complimentary Sync Services expires and I don't pay to continue, I'll still have all my normal Sync features that I use daily.
From another forum, the Sync Services after the three years does cost $60.00 a year. This allows you to use their services which include turn by turn directions, business search, weather, sports, vehicle health report, ect.
Some replies stated that if you don't have services enabled (out of the three years and didn't resubscribe) you can call 888-247-2425 and get the same services for free, except the vehicle health report and perhaps the turn by turn directions. They said it's even the same female voice that does the in vehicle services as if you had Sync Services active.
I have another 1 1/2 years of services so I haven't tried the number.
A note for my Canadian friends, The sync service does not work correctly in Canada because they don't have both official languages setup on it. So you can't get weather, for example in Canadian cities.
Ijutic you need to double check that. If it is new you should have it free for 3 years...
I did check it out and it's $60 per year. If you go to myford web site it even tells you there is a service fee to activate this feature. I told the woman who activated the plan that I heard on the forum that it was free for 3 years. Her response was "unfortunately that's not correct" Buy the way this feature gives you turn by turn directions for travel and business addresses, traffic and weather reports etc.

I think it's free for 3 years (?) on the upper trim levels. I don't think I've ever used it so I won't pay when my free subscription runs out.
