I don't see that chrome trim piece on this trucks cladding. I thought all with cladding got that? What Ex's did get it? Was it a option or something? Inquiring mind would like to know.

I remember that one for sale up here in the bay area on CL a few months ago for around 25K.

That particular ebay guy checks all the listing on Craigslist and buys up the low mileage 7.3l F250/F350 and Excursion he can find. I don't know how he manages to be the first caller for some of the adds on Craigslist.

There were a few very low mileage 7.3l that when I contacted the seller they said they already had someone coming to look at it. A few weeks later I would find it on that guys ebay auction site.

the chrome trim only came on 2002-up Limited's. the 00/01 limiteds and the eddie bauers did not get the chrome trim.

if i had the cash laying around i'd buy that sucker its like brand new!!! i'd continue to daily drive my V10 and keep this thing in showroom condition.

We could pool our cash and title in FTE's name, start a museum!

Getting philosophical

They're just a machine folks. When I go to a museum, I like to see well used stuff, not fresh from the box with no memory of a past life.

Think of aged wine, cheese, grandma (with her cool stories)...

7.3L = 18mpg @ 10K miles = 555gals @ $3.50 = $1950 per yer

Difference of $550 per year. Divide that into the average extra cost of the diesel Excursion at the time of purchase and you're looking at 10 years just to break even. If you're towing all of the time or just like diesels then it makes good sense. But if it's a family vacation truckster or around town vehicle then buying the diesel for the added fuel economy might not be as economical as it appears.
Great point! Unless the 7.3's sold for the same as the V10's, there's no comparison. The V10 costs less up front and in the long run. Most people don't keep a vehicle long enough to cover the difference anyways.

to be fair to the seller, comparable 6.0 and other 7.3's on eBay are selling upper teens and low 20's. With much higher mileage

PSD powered X's are in high demand. Look at the V-10 prices on eBay. It's $8-10k cheaper to get comparable vehicles. Only difference being the PSD or V-10

stupid, but people will pay what they will. I'm just confused about the financing aspect. What bank is going to finance a $30k+ rig that is >10yrs old. I doubt many people have that kind of money to just plunk down

My mindset is a person should buy a diesel/gas/electric/hybrid/solar powered/Dilithium crystal powered...whatever powered....rig they want, because that's what they like. Not because they can justify the cost, or because they think the diesel is better at towing, or because they think the gasser costs less to maintain, etc, etc.

As long as you can afford it, buy what you like and you'll be happy!

Mine will look just like this once I can find someone to buff out the 11 yr old dull paint.

That sure looks nice. If I had the money laying around, I'd buy it.

X2

Most people tend to justify their actions after the fact sort of like Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

Diesel here is still like 3.80 and 87 octane is as low as 3.10 in areas.
