speaker size

i have a 2003 xlt explorer with the 6 cd changer and subwoofer in the rear. i want to upgrade my speakers, but could someone tell me what size are my speakers, front and back? i think it's a 5x7, but some people say 6x8

I will bet money it is 6x8 pioneer makes a great 3way 6x8 made for fords and mazdas not bad priced either

You should be able to fit both 5X7 or 6X8. You can also get a mounting braket 5 1/4 speakers as well. The stock speakers out of my 2002 XLT were 5X7.
If you want a great sounding replacement speaker and have a good budget check out JL Audio XR-570 CXI and CSI's. By far the best 5X7 speaker on the market. I have both sets amplified with 75 watts going to each, and they are sweet.

The best 5x7/6x8's I've heard, in order:

JL XR's
Pioneer Revs
Infinity Kappas

They all need to be amped, though (at least 50 watts/per, preferrably more)

great, i'm gonna go for the 6x8, i'm on a budget so i'm gonna go with the pioneer's or the kappa's. but i'd like to get more opinions. one more thing, could someone please give me some instructions on getting the door panels off.

I think the only differance between the two are the mounting positions/ holes. I have the JL's and they sound unbelievable for the $$. I'm going to a shop this week to get there opinion on the sound.
