Thanks, but I really only spent time! Not having it insured for 6 months saved me more than I spent on the paint job and body work

Less than I thought i would. It was under a gallon for 4 colour coats. I think I used about a quart of primer for 2 coats. So roughly a pint per coat.

Looks good! I have an almost identical truck! Where did you get your bumper from? And what about the d rings and d ring mounts?

Thanks a lot, I'm really happy with how it turned out! The bumper was done by a previous owner. It's custom made out of channel steel and welded to the frame, good thing I like it. It looked terrible when I got it though.

I made the shackle mounts myself.

The shackles are just from an auto parts or industrial supplier. 3/4" I think. I did actually use the shackles to pull a guy out of a ditch once and he gave me a bottle of wine and a vintage Stihl chainsaw the next day.

A bottle of wine and a chainsaw? Last time i pulled somebody out he just walked away without a word. Also, how much lift does your truck have and what size tires are you running?

Yeah true story. He actually came by my garage a couple hours later to say thanks with a bottle of wine. Then saw me tinkering on chainsaws and said had an old one he never got running and I could have it... Lots of saws in this part of the world. Turned out to be a Stihl S10! And I got it running of course, fuel hose was rotted off inside the tank.

The truck has about a 4" lift. The PO put front springs on the front which I think might be from a 2000 era F450. I did a shackle flip on the back. Search my threads to see. Tires are 37x12.5x16.5 goodyear OZ's.

Found this old thread. Gonna start rebuilding my sit truck this summer so thought I'd ask for some advice. Is thee anything you would've done different if you had this to do over again?

Also, is your frame bent? Looks like major frame or mount issues

Actually now that the painting was completed almost a year ago I have to say I am really happy with the results. The paint still looks like new and is not rusting through or bubbling anywhere. Doing this paint job over the winter under a tarp is not something I will subject myself to again. But it did work and I had no cheap alternatives.

What you are seeing in the photo is my rear cab mounts sinking. The crossmember is rotted out and the mounts have fallen right through. I fixed the passenger side, havent got around to the driver side yet.

Let me know if you have any more questions and I'd be happy to help if I can.

I had forgotten about this thread, that came out really nice!

HBN, are you still looking for those mirrors? I think those are the same ones my '85 had on its original doors:

I kept those doors so if the mirrors survived and they're the right ones you can have them for shipping.

NICE RIG! Really like that color. I was thinking of blacking out my grill and bumpers. Your truck just defiantly help me to decide that's what I'm going to do.
I was planning on a Olive green or a bluish gray color.
