Hey guys, I have a 95 F 150, 300 with a 5 speed. A couple weeks ago as I was slowing down, I heard/felt a significant clunk. It didn't do it for a couple weeks, but this weekend, has done it right much. One time, it clunked 3 or 4 times in a row. I dont know if it's in the front end or the transmission. Only seems to do it while slowing down and with my foot on the clutch pedal. Have looked it over good for anything loose or broken, all seems to be ok. Anyone else ever had this happen, or know what I can look for? Thanks.
Might want to check your U-Joints real well, I had this happen on my 84 dually and it was the front U-Joint falling apart, which eventually jammed, it was a pain to get the driveline out to fix because of the way it jammed.
You say you looked it over; did that include the U joints in the driveline? There should be no slop either rotationally or along the axes of the trunnions; if there is then it's cause to replace them.
Another possibility is worn radius arm bushings or broken radius arm brackets. If you can put a jack under the radius arm next to the bushing and see any significant motion as you extend the jack -- using the minimum mechanical advantage possible; you just want to put some load on the radius arm bushing and bracket, not lift the truck -- have them tended to or replace them yourself.
