harpoon mod question?

When I put my sending unit back in the tank the rubber foot hits the bottom before the unit at the top is touching the tank.it compresses down when I push on it but should it? Do I need to slide the foot up the tube or is this normal?

No, it's not normal and the foot will only go on the tube so far. Is the bottom of the tank pushed up or is it resting on something pushing the bottom in? Is it a factory tank?

The tank was on the ground.factory tank.it probably was that, tank flexing.thank you.

When I saw the title, All I could think of is an F250 with a man manning a harpoon in the bed driving down the highway. Needless to say, I'm a bit disappointed.
