I was wondering if any one has some guidance on replacing the "fuel level thingy". My rear sensor, or whatever it is called, is bad. I also was curious if there was info on "Harpooning" the tank. I get about 12 gallons in an 18 gallon tank, and start getting foam, so I have to put the diesel in at a very slow rate till it is finally full.
I heard that there is a tube that extends down into the tank to allow for expansion, and if you trim it back, it helps to resolve this. ANY info would be greatly appreciated.

You already know the story on the harpoon mod. Just reach in there with a pair of pvc cutters and snip the vent tube off about 1-2" from the top of the tank.
Once you drop the tank there is only a threaded plastic ring holding the sending unit in the tank.
